The constant searing pain caused by heartburn, makes anyone suddenly think, “Can’t I just be done and over with this? Don’t worry, help is here. Think of these tips to help you manage heartburn, if not totally get rid of it.
1. Spend more time chewing your food.
Studies reveal that chewing more before swallowing will significantly reduce your need to eat more. When you eat less, there’s a better chance experiencing a heartburn will be lessened too.
2. Eat small meals.
A full tummy is a common heartburn trigger. However, if you feel the urge to eat in between meals, you can at opt to have some quick, healthy snacks in between.
3. Stay away from heartburn triggers.
There is no exact list of foods that can cause heartburn. Research shows that acidic foods, like citrus fruits and tomatoes, greasy or fried foods, spicy foods, chocolate, coffee, as well as carbonated beverages and alcohol are the common heartburn triggers.
4. Take in more fluids but in intervals.
Solids are more commonly attached to heartburn. Liquids, however, pass through your system rather quickly, hence have little chance in stirring the tummy. Yogurt, milkshakes, protein shakes, and puddings, as well as liquids that contain more protein like milk and yogurt, are just a few healthy alternatives. It is advisable that you take in a few sips every one in a while or in between meals instead of downing a whole glass of it during meal time.
5. Keep moving after a meal.
Don’t lie or to anything that will require you to bend over after eating. You can just want around or do something that won’t allow you to sleep after eating.
